Lower eyelid cancer reconstruction

A squamous cell carcinoma can extend far beyond the apparent borders.  In the eyelids, this can be very problematic along the inner corner, because there are important nerves located in that region, as well as the tear drain apparatus.

This patient had a squamous cell carcinoma in that region.  The clinical photo has been marked to show the tumor.

Six weeks after reconstruction, this patient has done just fine.  She was lucky that the cancer was not larger, as sometimes it grows in a subtle manner.
